It was gathered that presidential intervention followed the breakdown of reconciliation between the PDP National chairman and the governor. Senate President David Mark also joined the meeting.

A top source, who spoke in confidence, said the presidency is worried by the inability of the stakeholders to conduct primaries at all levels.

He said although the party has up till January 31 to submit the list of candidates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), there is no sign that the two factions would ever agree.

He said: "Once again, the President has decided to intervene in Enugu crisis. The two factions have not been able to harmonise list of delegates for all strands of primaries. Since the primaries started, Enugu State has not conducted any.
