-To be eligible to apply, candidates must at the time of applicationbe a holder of a first degree of the University of London awarded with First Class Honours or with Second Class Honours, Upper Division, together with a Master's degree, the latter not necessarily being awarded by the University of London, or
-be a holder of a Master's degree of the University of London awarded with a mark of Distinction, but not necessarily a first degree of the University of London in which case there is no restriction as to the classification of the first degree, or
-be a holder of a Master's degree of the University of London together with a first degree with First Class Honours, the latter not necessarily being awarded by the University of London.Scholarship Open for International Students:The students of UK/EU and overseas can apply for this scholarship.Scholarship Description:This bequest was made to the University in 1891 to encourage the study of "Arabic, Persian, Hindustani and other Oriental languages". There are two scholarships available, one of which is available for new research applicants and the other, is available students already enrolled in their first year or second year of a full-time research degree programme at SOAS. Each scholarship is for one year only and is valued at £7,500 in total. The Ouseley Memorial scholarships may be used towards tuition fees or living expenses.Selection Criteria:-Candidates will be assessed on academic merit by a Selection Panel consisting of three academic members, one from each Faculty.

Selectors will be looking at the degree results and also at academic references, statement and other relevant information.Notification: All candidates will be notified by e-mail regarding the outcome of their scholarship application, generally by the end of May. The successful candidate will also be notified in writing.
