Title: Lagos Private Schools’ Proprietors Protest Closure
Post by: sparrow on Jan 12, 2011, 07:01 AM
School owners, under the aegis of National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), yesterday protested the Federal Government's closure of schools for the voter registration beginning on Saturday.

The proprietors, who stormed the office of Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola at Alausa, Ikeja, at 2pm, demanded to speak with him.

But one of the governor's security officers said he was not available.

They carried placards with inscriptions like: "Only 265 public schools are needed for voter registration"; "Why close all?"; "No intimidation of private schools"; "Open our schools - they cost money"; "Education in Nigeria is injured already"; and "Say no to draconian unprogressive, obnoxious and sadist policies"; among others.
