Post by: bobito on Nov 11, 2012, 02:04 PM
The announcement of successful development of a quartz glass sheets as a medium of information storage could claim a few hundred million years of survival unlike the current sorage media that have a life of a few decades.

The company strongly believes that this technology will boost information storage since the glass squares are fire and water proof besides being able to withstand chemical exposure and the fact that they are impervious to radio waves.

The glass stores information in binary in the form of dots inside the quartz sheet. Information on when the product will be in the market hasn't been made yet.
