YESTERDAY's rerun in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State was peaceful.
It also recorded an impressive turn out of voters.
Nine security operatives manned each polling booth.
Armed men patrolled the streets, searching vehicles on major roads leading to the town.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate Segun Olanipekun and his Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) counterpart Saheed Popoola praised security operatives and the State Independent Electoral Commission (KWASIEC) for the orderly conduct of the election.
Olanipekun said there were few complaints. Popoola said KWASIEC responded promptly to complaints about logistics and materials. Both candidates were confident they would win.
The October 30 council poll in the local government was cancelled because of irregularities.
