West Ham United co-owner David Gold believes it would be a "fantastic statement" if the Hammers managed to secure the signature of David Beckham.
Beckham, 37, revealed on Monday that he intends to leave Los Angeles Galaxy after he plays his final game for the clubon December 1.
Paris Saint Germain had been linked with a swoop for the former England captain but head coach Carlo Ancelotti has since quashed the rumours.
West Ham have previously been mooted as potential suitors for the midfielder and Gold would be delighted to offer him a route back to the Premier League.
