THOUGH the ink is yet to dry on the paper in which the results of the eagerly anticipated presidential primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was written, political pundits and keen followers of developments believe that, for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, his political future could have been dealt a deadly blow due to the unbelievable landslide victory recorded by the man he challenged for the party's presidential ticket, President Gooodluck Ebele Jonathan.
Prior to Thursday's convention, the general opinion was that the two major contenders for the ruling party's ticket were running neck-to-neck and that a victor could emerge based on some last-minute political manoeuverings and re-alignments. This, it was predicted, could swing the pendulum in the direction of either of the aspirants. No chance was given to the third aspirant, Mrs. Sarah Jubril, who was considered a lightweight in the race for Aso Rock.
