A 3-2 win over Botafogo for Atletico Mineiro saw them guarantee at least third place in the Campeonato Brasileiro and a Copa Libertadores spot, though a 0-0 draw with Ponte Preta for Sao Paulo extinguished their hopes of catching Atletico.
