Scholarship Description: Two full-time Postgraduate Scholarships are available for suitably qualified candidates with a good honours degree in science or engineering with a major in mathematics or mathematical physics, to undertake research studies leading to a PhD in Applied Mathematics. The project is to investigate and describe critical solutions of integrable and near-integrable nonlinear systems. This is an opportunity to obtain research training in a highly regarded team collaborating on a project named "Geometric construction of critical solutions of nonlinear systems" under the direction of Professor Nalini Joshi as part of her 2012 Georgina Sweet Australian Laureate Fellowship. The team is based at the School of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Sydney.

Duration of award(s): Each scholarship will be for three years subject to satisfactory progress, with a maximum extension of one year.
