Twenty seven states will participate in the National Qur'anic Recitation Competition holding in April in Zamfara, the state Deputy Governor Ibrahim Wakkala, has said.
Wakkala, who is the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee, told newsmen in Gusau on Tuesday that the state government was determined to ensure the success of the event.
The Deputy Governor, who inspected the venues selected for the competition, expressed satisfaction with the arrangements so far made.
Some of the places visited included Government Girls Secondary School and the Teachers Training College in Gusau as well as the Zakat Endowment Board premises.
"I am assuring you that by the grace of Almighty Allah, I will do my best to support the competition in order to make it a success. We are expecting 27 states to participate in the competition and we hope the competition will be more successful than the previous years.''
Katsina State hosted the competition in 2012 which was won by Malam Mujitapha Mahmud from Katsina, in the male category and Malama Badi'atu Abubakar from Bauchi, in the female category. The two were rewarded with brand new cars, cash and other gifts. (24)
