Three people have died in 2013 from fire.
A total of 38 people were killed in 607 fire incidents across Oyo State in 2012, the state's Director of Fire Services (http://www.interior.gov.ng/fire-service), Kareem Oyekunle, said on Tuesday.

He said about N1 billion worth of property were destroyed, while the department saved property worth N828 billion from fire.
The fire service chief said in just about two weeks into 2013, his office had received 46 distress calls over fire disasters in different parts of the state. Three people died from the incidents while one person was saved.
Mr. Oyekunle also said in the first weeks of 2013, fire had destroyed property N3.4 million in the state while his officers saved property worth N430 million from fire.
He said his office was yet to arrive at the exact cost of the fire incident at the palace of the Alaafin of Oyo, Lamidi Adeyemi, last week.
In order to avoid further fire related disasters, Mr. Oyekunle urged the citizens to be fire conscious and adhere strictly to fire safety rules.
These, he said, include avoidance of indiscriminate smoking, non-hoarding of flammable liquid, burning of refuse under close supervision and ensuring that the fire is totally put off by wetting the place of burning after the fire. (38)
