BARELY 48 hours after the assassination of 18 people at Damboa market, violence Wednesday erupted in Maiduguri, Borno State, as gunmen suspected to be Boko Haram sect members killed three persons and injured a soldier in the Jiddari-Polo area of the metropolis.
The incident, according to the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Maiduguri, the state capital, occurred when the suspected gunmen trailed the victims to their houses in Jiddari-Polo in the early hours of yesterday.
In a statement by the JTF spokesman, Lt.-Col. Sagir Musa, two of the suspects were arrested after a gun battle that lasted for half an hour.
He, however, noted that in the gun battle with the Boko Haram terrorists, two suspects were killed, while a soldier who sustained gunshot wounds had been taken to the hospital for treatment.
