Title: 2014-2015 Fulbright Scholarships for South African Students in USA

The US embassy in South Africa is offering Fulbright (http://scholarship-positions.com/fulbright-scholarships-to-study-in-usa-and-other-countries/2011/10/07/) scholarship for South African (http://scholarship-positions.com/scholarship-for-south-african-students/2012/05/08/) students. The scholarships are available for pursuing postgraduate study (master and PhD) at US universities or at other appropriate institutions in USA (http://scholarship-positions.com/2012-scholarships-list-for-international-students/2011/06/20/). The scholarship is offered for up to two years of study. The scholarship can be taken in any discipline except MBA and medical studies. Interested applicants should send their complete applications by post till April 20, 2013.

Course Level: This scholarship is available for pursuing master and PhD program.

Eligibility:

-A Bachelor (Hons), BTech degree or an equivalent four-year university degree is required to qualify for Master's studies, while a Master's degree is required for doctoral studies in the United States.

- Applicants who have received previous Fulbright student grants are not eligible.

- Applicants who have never traveled and/or studied in the United States will be given priority over those who have spent a considerable time in the United States and/or who have regularly traveled there.

- Applicants who have never studied outside South Africa will be given priority over those who have spent a considerable amount of time studying abroad.

-Applicants must be South African citizens or permanent residents of South Africa. Applicants holding U.S. citizenship or U.S. permanent residency are ineligible for Fulbright grants to the United States

Scholarship Open for International Students: South African students can apply for the scholarship.

Scholarship Description: The Fulbright Foreign Student Program offers grants to pursue academic courses, for credit, at post-graduate level, or to engage in research or projects supervised by an approved institution, or to do coursework for non-degree purposes.

Number of award(s): Average number of grants per year is 20.

Duration of award(s): The Fulbright program provides funding for up to two years of study.

Notification: Applicants, who have not been invited for an interview by May 30, 2013, should consider their application as unsuccessful.  Selections will be made by late June and applicants will receive notification of their status in July, 2013.

Scholarship Application Deadline: The closing date for applications is April 20, 2013.
