Job description:
The main purpose of the role is to advise on the accounting under US GAAP for revenue, related to our the hardware businesses, and to support general policy queries. The role has exposure to EMEA countries for resolving deal accounting issues pre and post signature. As such the individual is expected to the subject matter expert providing clear and final guidance for teams to follow.
Specifically you will be responsible for the following areas:
• Advise deal teams, pre-signature, on revenue treatments to optimize revenue recognition, whereby ensure compliance with US GAAP.
• Reviewing and approving RRC (Revenue Recognition Checklist), which document the accounting disposition on HP contracts related to Hardware business units and liaising (if needed) with Services and Software business units and their support functions/organizations.
• In depth knowledge of the systems and processes related to the hardware group (e.g. Order Management, Channel).
• Provide ongoing support and training to finance teams to enable them to be self sufficient with their policy and process understanding.
• Influence and communicate to the wider community HP policy updates.
• Lead general policy queries related to revenue recognition.
These activities will involve leading and facilitating meetings (in a virtual environment) across multiple organizations, pro-actively identifying and solving problems, and giving mature and clear guidance to enable quarter end activities. This will include providing revenue recognition expertise in the above areas, facilitating audit activity, consulting on processes, and ensuring compliance with HP financial policies and procedures.
Your profile:
• Master's degree(graduate)in Business/Finance.
• An asset would be to have started or completed certifications like Certified Public Accountant(CPA), Certified Management Accountant(CMA), Chartered Financial Accountant(CFA), Chartered Accountant(CA)
• Theoretical understanding of finance and in particular revenue recognition under US GAAP.
• Knowledge of financial systems
• Practical/process experience for problem diagnosis and variance analysis
• Accounting knowledge, prior experience in finance or accounting roles
