The National Working Committee of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) has filed a notice of appeal challenging the judgment of an Enugu High Court which sacked the leadership of the party over the weekend.

The party in its appeal held that the learned Justice Innocent Umezulike erred in law by dismissing the notice of preliminary objection challenging the jurisdiction of the court to entertain the suit.
The party which also filed a motion for stay of execution of the judgment held that the trial judge also erred in law when it came to a wrong conclusion that it was competent to entertain matters touching on the internal affairs of a political party
Justice Umezulike had on Friday sacked the leadership of the party and ordered a fresh election to produce a new chairman following a suit filed by a former chairman of the party, Udi chapter, Jude Okuli, challenging Mr Umeh's chairmanship after the alleged expiration of his tenure.
The judge described Mr Umeh's continued stay as chairman of the party as unconstitutional and illegal.
