Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi spoke at the press
conference and mixed zone after leading his team to
win the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations triumph on
Sunday. NURUDEEN OBALOLA was at Soccer City,
Soweto with other reporters
.
Do you feel fulfilled after this Nations Cup victory?
.
When I came on board my dream was to make
Nigerians happy. My dream was to make Nigerians
know that they were going to have a very good team.
We're not there yet, we still have a long way to go.
But I'm happy about the progress we've made.
I'm proud of the fact that I'm the first Nigerian coach
to win the Nations Cup for my country. But I want to
dedicate this victory to all Nigerian coaches. It's not
for me alone. I hope other African coaches will get to
this position and make their nations proud.
.
The last five minutes were frantic and bearing in
mind that Burkina Faso had equalized against
Nigeria in the last minute in your first meeting, what
was running through your mind as the game was
nearing the end?
.
You don't want to know what was going through my
head five minutes to the end. So many things were in
my head, although I kept having positive feelings
that if we didn't score one more goal, we'd end it 1-0.
The way the boys were working kept me going; I
knew we'd get there.
.
The Super Eagles will be playing in the
Confederations Cup, how will you prepare for it?
.
Qualifying to represent Africa in the Confederations
Cup is an honour to Nigeria. I don't really have much
to say about it now until we get there.
