The Presidency has witheld the N2m cash gift promised each member of the Super Eagles backroom staff during Tuesday night's reception in Aso Rock due to the bogus list reportedly presented by the Nigeria Football Federation.

I gathered that all sorts of names including that of some board members and secretariat staff of the NFF found themselves on the list and this drew the ire of Presidency officials and National Sports Commission chiefs who were in- charge of verifying the names.

One of the affected officials who is in the medical crew expressed shock and incredulity at the behaviour of officials who compiled the list and those who verified it.

I learnt late Wednesday night that Dr Rafiu Ladipo,president of the Supporters club complained at the floor of the House of Representatives on Wednesday when the Eagles were hosted by the lawmakers.

''The leadership of the House of Representatives has promised to wade into the matter so that we can get what we worked for'',said the affected official who could not believe a former national team player who was a strong part of the verification team could not fight for the 'real' backroom staff knowing their roles in the preparation of the Eagles for any engagement.

Meanwhile, President Jonathan Wednesday doled out N5 million to members of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club. The cash reward was announced before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) inside the Council Chambers of the presidential Villa.

The president also formally presented the trophy to the August body.

The camaraderie of Tuesday night's reception for the victorious Super Eagles was rekindled as the trophy passed from hand to hand inside the chamber, thereby availing many of the ministers the opportunity to physically touch the coveted trophy and even take pictures with it.
