The family and friends of Reeva Steenkamp gathered for her funeral (http://news.sky.com/story/1054008/reeva-steenkamp-funeral-in-port-elizabeth) in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, on Tuesday, according to Sky News.
The funeral service for the 29-year-old model, law school graduate and reality TV actress occurred as a prosecutor charged her boyfriend, Oscar Pistorius, with premeditated murder (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/19/oscar-pistorius-charged-premeditated-murder_n_2714520.html) in her death. Steenkamp was fatally shot (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/14/oscar-pistorius-arrested-murder-reeva-steenkamp_n_2690098.html) at the home of the double-amputee Olympic pioneer on Valentine's Day.
"There's a space missing inside all the people she knew that can't be filled again," Reeva's brother, Adam, told reporters (http://www.cnn.com/2013/02/19/world/africa/south-africa-pistorius-case/index.html?hpt=hp_t1) outside the service, via CNN.
Steenkamp was cremated during a private service (http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/world-news/reeva-steenkamp-funeral-model-laid-1717319) at the Victoria Park Crematorium in Port Elizabeth, according to The Mirror.
Meanwhile, Pistorius' defense lawyer, Barry Roux, refuted the prosecution's premeditated murder charge during a bail application hearing in Pretoria, saying the incident was an accidental shooting.
"We submit it is not even murder," Roux said on Tuesday (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/02/19/oscar-pistorius-charged-premeditated-murder_n_2714520.html), according to The Associated Press. "There is no concession this is a murder."
Mixed with the mourners' tears at Steenkamp's funeral was a desire to see Pistorius held accountable for Steenkamp's slaying.
"Without a doubt. He's a danger to the public. He'll be a danger to witnesses. He must stay in jail. He's already shown how dangerous he can be for what he did to Reeva," Gavin Venter, an ex-jockey who worked for Steenkamp's father, told Reuters (http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/02/19/us-safrica-pistorius-steenkamp-idUSBRE91I0BY20130219).
