THE 2013 ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY CELEBRATION
The 2013 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration took place to day at the Cenotaph in Calabar featuring Prayers, Match Past and Laying of Wreaths.
The Ceremony featured the inspection of the guard of honour by the Acting governor and mounted by the Nigerian Army.
The wreaths laying ceremony was led by the Acting Governor, Mr. Efiok Cobham, followed by the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Mr. Larry Odey and the State Chief Judge, Justice Okoi Itam.
Others were Consular General of the Republic of Cameroun, Atandana Michael Augustine.
The brigade Commander of the 13 Brigade Nigerian Army, Calabar Brigadier General Shehu Yusuf. The commander of the NNS Victory, Nigerian Navy Calabar, Commodore D. E. Ijoko.
The Commander of the 201 Special Mobility Group of the Nigerian Air Force Calabar, Air Commodore M. Ahmed.
The State Commissioner of Police Mr. Osita Ezechukwu, represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Administration, Mr. Ahdu Danwawu and the State Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Lt. Col. Timothy Oshie rtd.
Earlier, Prayers were said for those who lost their lives in the first and second world Wars, the Nigerian Civil War and the Peace Mission and abroad as well as prayers for President Goodluck Jonathan, the Acting governor Mr. Efiok Cobham and the country in general, followed by three gun salute for the nation.
