Harambee Stars of Kenya new coach,Adel Amrouche is targeting a big upset against the Super Eagles when both sides clash in a World Cup qualifier next month in Calabar.

The Algeria-born naturalised Belgian who will lead Kenya against Nigeria after he was unveiled as the coach of Kenya on Wednesday said his immediate task was to prepare the Harambee Stars for the 2014 World Cup qualifying match against newly-crowned African champions, Nigeria in Calabar on March 23.

"My mission with Kenya is to win the qualifiers for both the 2014 World Cup and 2015 Africa Cup of Nations. It is a big challenge but I want to write my name in African football," said Amrouche, who who quit his five-year stint as manager of Burundi after the team lost 2-1 to Zimbabwe in qualifying for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations a year ago.

Amrouche has also promised to transform Kenyan football,assuring that the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) may not have picked a big name coach,but in him they have picked the right man for the job.

"Maybe the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) did not pick a big name, but I can assure you they have picked a hard worker someone who can change the face of Kenyan football and is ready to open doors of opportunity for Kenyan footballers everywhere in the world," said Amrouche at a news conference.

"I have followed Kenyan football for quite sometime now and I believe it is time for a new approach for the future so that we can make Kenya one of the big names in the continent and in the world," he added.

Meanwhile,Kenya's Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Ababu Namwamba, has hailed Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi for guiding Nigeria to victory in the recent 2013 AFCON finals in South Africa, saying he is rooting for African tacticians.

Keshi, 51, a former Super Eagles defender and captain, is one of only two people - the other being Egypt's Mahmoud El-Gohary to have won the Africa Cup of Nations as both player and coach.

Namwamba, speaking Wednesday at the unveiling of Belgian Adel Amrouche as the head coach of the Kenya senior national team, The Harambee Stars, said African coaches and players had what it takes to guide their teams to victory in global competitions.

The minister, apparently noting that though a Belgian national, Amrouche, is of Algerian origin.

'This is the strong voice of the Government, if it is what your were waiting for. The Government is fully behind you,' he told FKF President Sam Nyamweya.

He said Kenya and Africa in general have the materials for producing good players and coaches. Namwamba also gave the FKF the government's go- ahead to bid for the 2015 CAF Africa Under 17 tournament and the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
