Former Heartland attacking midfielder, Chigozie Christopher has joined former Nigerian champions, Bayelsa United for the 2012/13 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

Christopher started his professional football career with Brass-based side, Ocean Boys now Divine Warriors before he headed to the camp of former champions, Dolphins in 2011 and later signed for Cup holders, Heartland during the 2011/2012 league season.

The Nigerian playmaker said he joined the newly- promoted NPFL side to help the side win laurels in the upcoming league season.

"I've signed for Bayelsa United for the 2012/13 season, everything has been concluded, the offer is satisfactory and I'm ready to hit the ground running.

"My dream is to win laurels especially a continental ticket for the side and ensure Bayelsa United are crowned Nigerian champions once again," he said.

Bayelsa United will play hosts to Caf Confederation Cup campaigners, Lobi Stars in a Matchday 1 clash at the Samson Siasia Stadium, Yenagoa on March 9 and Christopher said he is looking forward to the date to kick his first match for his side.

"I'm keenly looking forward to the opener against Lobi Stars. Of course, that's a must-win game for us," he said.
