The Ogun State House of Aseembly has called on officials of the State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) to take immediate steps to repair the damage done to the Odo-Pako bridge in Ota which had collapsed following last Sunday’s rainfall. Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraj Ishola Adekunbi, made the call while responding to an appeal by the lawmaker representing Ado-Odo/Ota 1 State constituency, Hon. Aina Akinpelu, under personal explanation over the last the downpour that wreaked havoc in the area. He also underscored the need for the Ministry to put in place palliative measures that would ease movement of residents of the various communities using the damaged bridge which served as alternate route to Lagos. Rt. Hon. Adekunbi also acknowledged the receipt of two letters from the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun seeking to create a New Town Development Authority and another for a law to amend the Ogun State Commercial Vehicles (Road Haulage) fees law 2006. Meanwhile, the Assembly has congratulated the Osile of Oke-Ona Egba, Oba (Dr) Adedapo Tejuoso, on his 75th birthday, describing the monarch as a man who had dedicated his life to the service of humanity through charity and evangelism.In another development, the lawmakers also observed a minute silence in honour of late Hon. Muyiwa Bangbelu, a former lawmaker, who represented Oru/ Awa/Ilaporu State Constituency between 1991-93.
