The Bayelsa State Government says it will continue to support and promote the ideals of the NYSC scheme in the State.
Governor Henry Seriake Dickson stated this at the send forth ceremony for the 2012 batch "A" corps members that served in the State at the Gloryland Cultural Centre, Yenagoa.
He noted that, the founding fathers of the scheme meant well for the country as it has greatly promoted and fostered national integration.
Governor Dickson, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Edmund Allison-Oguru commended the corps members for their sense of duty and commitment to the development of the State, especially in the educational sector.
Government, he remarked will always strive to provide a conducive environment for them to render more meaningful service to the state in particular and the nation in general.
According to him, Government will step up work at the permanent NYSC orientation camp in Kaiama, headquarters of Kolokum/Opokuma Local Government Area, with a view to making the camp more conducive to corps members posted to the State.
Hon. Dickson also urged the outgoing corps members to be good ambassadors of the State by giving proper accounts of their experiences and change the negative perception people outside have about the State.
In his remarks, the State coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps scheme, Mr. Abiodun Abdulrasheed expressed appreciation to the State Government for its warm and kind disposition towards corps members in the State and assured that they will endeavour to reciprocate Government's kind gesture.
The event witnessed the presentation of the best overall corps member award to Mencha Nkemjika from Abia State.
