The National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has commended the Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, for what it called the transformation of Ibadan into a modern state capital which will facilitate the industrial growth of the state.

The NACCIMA President, Mr. Ademola Ajayi, gave the commendation when he led other members of the association on a courtesy call to the governor in his office in Ibadan on Thursday.

"Our observation is that this state is moving very fast on the path of transformation. We also noticed that Oyo State, and particularly, Ibadan, the state capital, is getting cleaner and neater. We also want to congratulate you on the inauguration of the Secretariat/Bodija Bridge which will further ease movement of the people of the state and improve on their living standard. We have also observed the various developmental projects currently going on, such as the Mokola fly-over, road dualization and others.

"This will no doubt go a long way in actualizing your dream of ensuring the rapid socio-economic development of Oyo State,'' the NACCIMA President said.

He also commended the governor for the cordial relationship existing between his administration and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the private sector, adding that this had helped the public-private partnership being canvassed in the country to be working in the state.

Ajayi urged Governor Ajimobi not to relent in his efforts at instituting changes that would bring transformation and improve the socio-economic lives of the people of the state.

He urged the governor to continue to give priority attention to the organization of annual trade fair and exhibitions that would showcase the vast potentials that abound in Oyo State for the attraction of direct foreign investments and tourists who would want to invest.

The NACCIMA boss also called for a sustainable partnership between the state government and his association in order to facilitate rapid economic development and delivery of dividends of democracy to the people.

He urged the governor to approve an industrial park in a suitable place within the state, saying that this would improve investments and solve unemployment and insecurity problems as well take care of other social vices.

Governor Ajimobi, in his remarks, said that his administration was gradually succeeding in its efforts at repositioning and transforming Oyo to a modern, industrialized and investment-friendly state.

He said that given the vast potentials of the state in agriculture as the largest employer of labour, his administration was set to making the sector more open to investment, particularly in the area of mechanized farming.

The governor, who called for partnership between his government and the association, announced the setting up of a committee to work with the chamber in exploring possible areas of collaboration
