Bayelsa State Governor, Hon. Seriake Dickson has announced the appointment of Mrs Rhoda Odumafor, daughter of late Chief Ombu Aleke as Senior Special Assistant.
Governor Dickson made the announcement while speaking at the funeral ceremony of Chief Aleke, a former Caretaker Committee member of the Ogbia Local Government Council at Otuogidi in Ogbia Local Government Area of the State.
The Governor explained that the appointment was in recognition of the contributions of the late politician in the service of his people and particularly towards the enthronement of the restoration government.
Governor Dickson who said he received news of the death of Chief Aleke with shock, described the deceased as a dependable member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one who lived an exemplary life.
He noted that Chief Aleke in his lifetime promoted culture as a member of the Opu-ekine Sekiapu of Opume community in Ogbia Local Government Area.
The State Chief Executive encouraged members of the deceased family to take solace in the fact that death is a necessary end and prayed for the repose of the departed soul.
Responding, a representative of the Aleke family, Mr. Goodman Ekpe expressed gratitude to Governor Dickson for identifying with the family in their moment of grief.
The Governor was accompanied on the visit by the commissioners of Health and Sports development, Dr. Anapurere Awoli and Chief Mitema Obordor, Special Adviser on Political Affairs, Chief Fred Agbedi,State Chairman of the PDP, Rtd Col. Sam Inokoba, the Principal Executive Secretary, Government House, Yenagoa, Mr. Douye Diri and the paramount ruler of Opume community, King Amalate J. Turner, among others.
