Title: My target is to widen NNL lead - Edward Weng
Post by: Shola Sholaz on Mar 01, 2013, 10:36 AM
Plateau United forward, Edward Weng, has said his side's target is to widen the leadership gap at the Nigeria National League (NNL) Division A.
.
The Tin City side are leaders of NNL Division A on superior goals with 18 points same as city rivals, Giwa FC and Adamawa United.
.
The Jos-based landlords will play hosts to Jigawa Golden Stars in a tough NNL Matchday 11 on Saturday at the Rwang Pam Stadium, Jos.
.
Weng said his side trained twice daily this week with the aim of picking all points off visiting Jigawa Golden Stars as well as stay beyond the reach of the chasing pack.
.
"We want to widen the gap at the top, and good enough our closest rivals, Giwa are on the road so a victory against Jigawa Golden Stars will give us a clear three-point lead.
.
"We're mindful of a photo-finish at the end. So we've decided that in addition to the three points we must win our games with a wide goal margin.
.
"After Week 7, we took a vow not to go down once we claim the top spot and we're religiously keeping faith with the vow.
.
"Jigawa Stars have a crop of good players who can turn things around that's why we're not pretending that the encounter will be easy. So we're not going to underrate the side or any other side but play each game as if it was the final and with a specific strategy," said the former El-Kanemi Warriors hitman said.
