The Ogun State Government has re-stated its determination to develop Ode-Omi community in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of the State. Commissioner for Rural Development, Hon. Falilu Sabitu gave the assurance in Abeokuta while playing host to some Chiefs from the community who had come to intimate him about the plan of some communities to cede to the neghbouring state. “Ode-Omi is an integral part of Ogun State, Government had already given approval for the execution of water, roads and electrification projects of Ode-Omi and engineers will move to site next week”, Sabitu said. He mentioned that Solar Powered Energy System had already been provided for the community by the government, assuring that it would continue to provide infrastructural amenities to all. The Commissioner assured that work would begin next week on construction of culverts and bridges within the community, adding that more medical equipment would be provided for the health centre, while plans were already in place to deploy doctors and other medical personnel to the area. Sabitu also informed that 10 teachers who are indigenes of Ode-Omi had already been interviewed and would soon be employed by the government, urging the people to purge the idea and belief that Ode-Omi belongs to another State. Speaking on behalf of the Chiefs, the National Youth President of Ode-Omi, Mr. Bakare Tanimola appealed to the government to start work on various projects penciled for execution before the rainy season, saying this would give the people a sense of belonging as well as have a feel of governance.
