Title: Ogun State - Another Polio Vaccination Exercise Starts

The 2nd round of the year 2013 National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) to eradicate polio among children between age 0- 5 years started on Friday, 1st March, 2013 in Ogun and other States of the Federation.     A release by the State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Olaokun Soyinka in Abeokuta stated that the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun flags-off the 4- day programme at the Health Centre, Oke-Oyinbo, in Ijebu-Ode Local Government Area of the State by 10 a.m.  Dr. Soyinka added that the Governor also commission the state satellite cold store at the same venue, noting that the facility would enable the Ijebu health zone have easy access to immunization vaccines. He further said that the ceremony would serve as an opportunity to sensitize parents and guardians on the importance of immunization and to intensify efforts at creating more awareness on the deadly polio virus.  The release added that the house-to-house National Immunization Plus Days (NIPDs) would hold between Saturday 2nd and Tuesday 5thMarch, 2013 for eligible children across the 20 Local Government Areas of the State, calling on mothers and care givers to utilize the opportunity of the exercise which is free, safe and effective to immunize their wards against poliomyelitis and other childhood killer diseases.
