KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responsible for coverage of all emergency and development programmes for external and internal use
• Lead design and implementation of new media and communications strategy, taking into considering new worldwide trends and developments
• Design international and/ or regional outreach and advocacy strategies, including the use of social media and/ or innovative communications tools
• Identify media opportunities, draft press releases and statements, and ensure quality and timeliness of communications campaigns and projects
• Ensure accuracy, adequacy, and quality of all information shared
• Monitor and analyse national and regional media for relevant news and developments
• Establishing and maintaining network of relevant actors: journalists, broadcasters, peer organisations, donors, authorities, and other stakeholders
• Training and capacity building on communication and information sharing of partners
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
POSITIONS OPEN TO NATIONALS FROM ABOVE MENTIONED COUNTRIES ONLY
• Minimum of three years professional experience of working with media, in public relations and/ or communications at an NGO in West Africa
• Experience leading advocacy, outreach, and campaigns on humanitarian or development programmes
• Good understanding of political and developmental issues of West Africa
• Proven experience of using (new) media for lobby and advocacy success
• Computer literate, experience in using social media
• Excellent negotiation and networking skills
• Excellent analytical skills
• Prior experience in training and capacity building of multi-national and multi-cultural teams
• Excellent written and spoken English and French
• Willing to be based in or travel to insecure locations
