Nigeria's King Davidson Emenogu on Saturday defeated Russia's Andrejs Iodinovs in fifth round to retain his World Boxing Organization (WBO) International light middleweight title in Southampton, London.

The Commonwealth bronze medalist defeated lodinovs at the Southampton Guildhall (venue of the bout) by knockout in the fifth round to keep his WBO world title.

Emenogu was initially billed to fight Ghanaian-born Philip Kotey before organizers of the bout went for the Russian 48 hours before the fight.

Speaking after the victory, Emenogu revealed that he plans to stage his next fight in Nigeria.

"I have always been doing my fights outside the country since I turned professional."

"I had represented Nigeria at Amateur level and as we all know, there is no place like home. So I am working towards having my next fight in Nigeria; it is likely to hold later in the year," he exclaimed.

Aside from the WBO International Light- middleweight title, Emenogu also holds other titles which includes the IBF, Pan Pacific Youth Light- middleweight, Australian Light-middleweight, and Pan Asia Boxing Association title.
