CAF election: NSC back Maigari's candidature Print
Sports Minister Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi yesterday said the National Sports Commission (NSC) is in full support of the candidature of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Alhaji Aminu Maigari, who is vying for a place in the Executive Committee of Confederation of Africa Football (CAF).
.
Abdullahi, who stated this in a chat with reporters at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, venue of the Meeting of Africa Regional Working Group of Experts on Inter- Governmental Committee for Physical Education Committee, explained that several meetings were held in the past with the NFF and Maigari towards ensuring that he (Maigari) wins the seat, last occupied by Dr. Amos Adamu.
.
He however said the Commission has no powers to declare Maigari winner of the election, as a lot of factors comes into international politics of such magnitude in determining winners and losers.
.
"Our position is very clear on this issue, we have a candidate in person of Aminu Maigari. He has our full support and we been holding several meetings to get him on board.
.
"It is our hope that he will be sucessful, but you know that for politics at that level, there are different dynamics that come in," Abdullahi said.
