The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Alex Badeh has described the military as a strong arm of democracy and assured Nigerians that the military will remain committed to the entrenchment of democratic values in the country.

Air Marshal Badeh said this in Ilorin during a courtesy visit to the Kwara State Governor, Dr Abdulfatah Ahmed.

The Chief of Air Staff said the Airforce, and indeed the Nigerian military, are dependable allies in protecting and sustaining the country's hard earned democracy. According to him, the Air force is prepared to make itself available towards defending democracy by ensuring law and order in the country.

On his part, Governor Ahmed noted that Nigeria was passing through unusual times in terms of national security and more and proactive attention needed to be given to security challenges. "These are unusual times as we are faced with unusual crisis that we have never faced since the end of the civil war", the governor emphasised.

Governor Ahmed observed that crisis hinders investment drive and economic development of any society, hence the need for all Nigerians to strive for the promotion of national security.

The Governor assured the visiting security chief that his administration was irrevocably committed to driving democracy to impact on the people through proactive policies such as the commercial agriculture, International Aviation College initiative and the International Cargo Shed which will transform Kwara State into the agricultural and aviation hub of Nigeria.
