Kano Pillars' defender, Umar Zango, has been left o t of Nigeria's 2014 Fifa World Cup against Kenya in
Calabar on March 23.
"I've been checked by our doctor and I've been told
I'll be sidelined for a few days. It's a back injury after
I collided with another player during our league game
on Sunday. But the doctor said I can start light
workout tomorrow (Wednesday) and not competitive training. It's sad I won't be part of the Super Eagles' preparation for the World Cup qualifier against Kenya," Zango told supersport.com on Tuesday. Zango is hopeful of being fit for his club's next game against Bayelsa United in Kano on March 20.
.
"I should be ready for my club's next game," he assured.
.
Nigeria head coach, Stephen Keshi, has already called up First Bank FC centre-back, Festus Ajah as replacement for the injured Zango.
.
Ajah is expected to join up with the squad in their. Abuja camp ahead of Wednesday's training, as preparation for the Kenya game continues.
.
As at Tuesday, 23 Super Eagles players trained for the first time in Abuja since the team became African champions in South Africa in February.
The injury came at the very wrong time. Zango would be really hurt right about now
