Title: FG Probes Attack On Nigerian Embassy

The Federal Government has set up a board of inquiry to investigate the attack on Nigeria's Embassy in Dakar.

Olugbenga Ashiru, Minister of Foreign Affairs, gave this hint, yesterday, at an investigative hearing held by the House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs.

Said Ashiru: " We have constituted a board of inquiry to find out the causes of the problem and proffer solutions."

He stated that in order to prevent such incidents in the future, a team of inspectors, officials of the ministry, office of Nigeria Security Adviser, NSA and Nigeria Intelligene Agency, NIA, had been set up to visit all Nigerian embassies in the sub-region.

He said that a strong protest had been lodged with the Senegalese authorities over the failure of the police to respond promptly.

In her submission, Mrs. Katyen Jackden, Nigeria's Ambassador to Senegal, said a distress call was made to the nearest police station some few meters away from the Chancery for help, but they responded 30 minutes later.
