In a sermon at the Peregrino Hall, Government House, Calabar, the founder and the General Overseer of Living Faith Church, aka Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo stressed the need for people to always thank God in their lives.
Bishop Oyedepo said that thanks giving is a debt people owe God and that it is a debt to pay all the time and on time.
He gave three reasons why Christians should always live a life of thanksgiving. According to him, thanksgiving is the only way to preserve the presence of God in one's life especially when it is done from the depth of the heart.
He also said that thanksgiving is mostly done to perfect whatever God has done in one's life adding that thanksgiving also enables people to qualify for the next blessing they deserve. He said the reason for the gathering was to thank God for His goodness, faithfulness and mercy adding that it was absolutely necessary to give God thanks for the life of Governor Liyel Imoke, the state and the nation at large.
President of Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Enugu chapter and General Overseer, Family Church Enugu, Bishop Obi Onubogu, commended Mrs. Obioma Liyel-Imoke for her prayerful life which has become the family's source of strength and therefore urged Christians to always pray to qualify for God's benevolence.
The Wife of the State Governor, Mrs. Obioma Liyel-Imoke was extremely happy and all smiles as she asked those present at the event to join her thank God for His favour. Her words "I want you all to join me to say thank you to the indescribable God. I call him exact God, the God who never makes mistakes. What He did for me, He did for a reason and that goes to show how wonderful He is. I thank him for being Almighty God, the one who sees a dead thing and lift it and make it alive again".
Imoke's wife who promises to continue to live a life of thanksgiving extended her appreciation to her family members and all who identified with them in their time of need. She also commended the Deputy Governor, Barr. Effiok Cobham for piloting the affairs of the state while they were away on vacation.
Pastor Lawrence Agbata of the Grace Consulate and Pastor Mike Ahua of the Church at Hephzibah Government House Calabar, were among those who ministered at the event. A popular Nigerian Gospel Artistes, Frank Edward was among those who led the congregation in praise and worship.
