Bayelsa State Governor, Hon Henry Seriake Dickson has described the peaceful and mature disposition of all candidates at the just concluded Ijaw National Congress, (INC) elections as a sign of greater things to come for the Ijaw nation.

In a congratulatory message to the new executive of INC, Governor Dickson expressed the deep appreciation of the Government and people of Bayelsa State to all those that participated in the elections, noting that they were a pride of the Ijaw Nation and called on the rest of the country to emulate them.

He noted with satisfaction, the brotherly manner both winners and losers conducted themselves, which is an indication of the oneness of purpose and unity among the entire Ijaw race and appealed to all Ijaws where ever they may be to rally round the new executive in their strides to carve a new niche for the Ijaw race.

The Bayelsa State Chief Executive urged the Chief(Senator) Tari Sekibo led INC to run an all inclusive administration that will carry every Ijaw person along, adding that the Ijaws, who are the fourth largest tribe in Nigeria cannot afford to be disunited at this critical moment of the Nation's history.

Governor Dickson reaffirmed the strategic importance of Bayelsa State as the only homogeneous Ijaw State and assured the new executive of the unflinching support of the government and people of the State as they set the stage to move the Ijaw Nation to new and enviable heights.

He also enjoined those who lost out in the election to remain steadfast in their belief and commitment to the Ijaw course, noting that a good leadership can only succeed, when the followers are supportive of its policies and programmes.

Hon. Dickson, who is a one-time Legal Adviser of the Pan Ijaw movement, described the Ijaws as the most resilient, dogged, determined and gifted race, stressing that for any meaningful progress to be achieved on a continuous and unhindered basis, every true Ijaw person should complement one another at all times.

"For us to remain relevant and make meaningful progress in a diverse nation like Nigeria, we must at all times be supportive to one another, exhibit the Ijaw in us without any pretences and above all be united as well as pursue our common goals with renewed vigour, commitment and unity of purpose"

There is nothing we cannot target and achieve as a united people, and this should be the focus and concern of every Ijaw man and woman" Governor Dickson remarked.
