Purpose Statement: Responsible to authorise hold baggage and cargo for carriage by air. Making available to the Pilot of the aircraft a copy of the signed hold baggage manifest.
Key Accountabilities: – Ensure all hold baggage loaded has been accounted for on the hold baggage manifest: – Ensure all hold baggage loaded is appropriate to the flight and has been identified as accompanied or unaccompanied as appropriate – Ensuring the luggage is loaded on the correct carousel in the baggage reclaim area. – Recording and dealing with damaged or incorrectly received baggage, and load discrepancies. – Using specialist equipment such as conveyors, bar code recognition and lifting equipment. – Review and report station adherence to policies and procedures bearing in mind local influences. – Make recommendations to the Station Manager/Ramp Supervisor to enhance current working practices.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience: This position requires a graduate with a Degree/HND or any related discipline relevant to aviation with at least 3 years airport/ ramp experience with relevant certifications. Knowledge of ramp handling and IATA dangerous goods awareness, Oversee despatch of baggage to reclaim point, ensuring target times are met. Knowledge of operation of loading and ramp procedures, aircraft doors and in-plane systems. Detailed and comprehensive knowledge of all load and balance procedures and regulations. Understanding connection process for passengers / baggage. Ability to take quick and well informed decisions.
