Harambee Stars forward Jacob Keli has promised his best if he plays in the World Cup qualifier versus the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
.
Keli was a surprise inclusion in the Stars final 19 man squad that departs for Nigeria today. With established forwards like Allan Wanga, Mike Baraza, Jesse Were and others missing out, Keli, Edwin Lavatsa and captain Dennis Oliech will be the only out-and-out forwards making the trip.
.
He insists that he is not overawed by the occasion and will give his best if he does play.
.
"I am lucky to be called up to the national team so I thank God for his blessings," Keli stated. "Many guys including my teammate at KCB Clifford Alwanga deserve a place here but I am in the side.
.
"It is an honour to go out there and represent Kenyans and I hope to be able to do well. If the coach decides that I play, I will give all the energy I can for the team."
.
Asked to rate their chances of victory, Keli is a believer in miracles: "No one has given us a chance of winning out there. None at all. "That is a motivating factor to us because we know what we are capable of. The players we have in the side all have good strong quality and can do wonders.
.
"It will be tough but in football anything can happen and we are sure we are in good hands." The Stars leave the country on Wednesday for Lagos.
It would always be an honour to play against the reigning African Champions. But Nigeria will show them pepper on Saturday
