Post by: Folami David on Mar 21, 2013, 08:07 AM
You may have heard commentators in the ongoing Africa Youth Championships describing Ebenezer Assifuah as a 14 year old, but Caf have confirmed this age has been an error on their part.
.
Assifuah has two goals in as many games at the ongoing African Youth Soccer Championships, first netting against Egypt in a 2-1 loss and on Tuesday, getting Ghana the winner against Benin.
.
Traditional and social media, especially in Ghana, have been awash with questions over the player's age since he has been a fixture in the country's football for at least two years.
.
"It was a typo on our part which led us not to write his correct age. We have rectified it," Hicham El Amrani, the General Secretary of Caf said.
.
The youth striker is 19 years, having been born on July 3, 1993. The Caf website had Assifuah's date of birth July 3, 1998.
.
His background has shown a consistency is goalscoring from the second division, where he played for Proud United. He then was loaned to Eleven Wise in the First Division.
.
Now playing for Liberty Professionals, Assifuah has been decent for the side, having scored seven in the top flight. He will be a likely starter, according to reports, in the Satellites final group game against Algeria on Friday.

Well that do not really matter for now cos we all know no human being is perfect. Let's focus on the games and not their ages
