The Client uses advanced cutting edge technologies in 'frontier' deepwater areas of over 1,000 metres.
A rapidly growing Operator company comprising of a range of large operated and non-operated deep and shallow water assets.
The Subsea and Umbilicals (SSU) Lead will functionally report to the Subsea & Pipeline Manager (SS&PL), and will be responsible for the technical delivery of the Subsea and Umbilicals scope of work on the project through the Select phase up to DG-3 and to First Oil, and to work with the other discipline groups within the project to deliver a totally integrated subsea system, safely, to the specified quality, within budget and schedule.
She/He will lead a team of engineers through concept selection, systems selection, development of specifications, tendering, detailed design, manufacturing, offshore installation and commissioning of the subsea hardware, controls, controls distribution and umbilicals (SSU) for the project.
Accountabilities:
In particular, the BSWA Subsea and Umbilicals Lead's accountabilities include:
- Delivery of the BSWA Subsea and Umbilical system, and field installation of all associated infrastructure in accordance with Shell policies and standards, ready for introduction of hydrocarbons by Q1 2020, within budget and no LTI recorded.
- Establish and implement HSSE and quality management systems within the Subsea team.
- Develop and implement project management systems including cost, schedule/progress, quality and HSSE monitoring and reporting.
- Participate in the Subsea & Pipeline (SS&PL) leadership team on the BSWA
- Supporting the SS&PL Manager in managing the commercial scope, and with engagement and relationship management of external stakeholders
- Lead the Subsea and Umbilicals Project Team, and manage the team through design, construction installation and support commissioning of the BSWA Subsea and Umbilicals scope.
- Develop contracting strategy and tender documents for the BSWA Subsea and Umbilicals scope, including bidders' pre-qualification and selection.
- Develop and implement the Contract Execution Plan and elements of the Basis of Design relating to the BSWA Subsea and Umbilicals scope
Education and Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in engineering with at least 15 years experience in upstream EP projects with emphasis on Design and Execution, and preferably in the deepwater environment. At least 10 years experience directly related to subsea and umbilical works.
- Assessed at or immediately ready for assessment at GPES Level 2
- Understanding of deepwater developments and played a leadership role in at least one major deepwater development project involving subsea infrastructure, and major deepwater field installation.
- Ability to work with and influence multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams.
- Demonstrated capability to proactively implement plans, following through with sustained execution, meeting project milestones.
- Experience in managing major EPC contracts.
- Familiar with project development challenges in Nigeria or in other regions with similar challenges.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Skillful at leading through influence.
