SS Lazio star, Ogenyi Onazi believes his participation at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria has dramatically changed his career.

Onazi played a huge role for the Super Eagles en route a third triumph at Africa's premier soccer showpiece.

The attacking midfielder has now taken the time to discuss the impact a storming 2013 AFCON has had on his career, especially at Serie A club, SS Lazio where he is not a regular fixture under the club's trainer, Vlamir Petkovic.

"Yes, the 2013 AFCON was the turning point in my career and I can only give thanks to God. It lifted me, not just in football but in other spheres in my life," Onazi exclusively said.

The 20-year-old then took the time to preview Saturday's 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying game against Kenya in Calabar.

"We are the champions of Africa; the top side on the continent but we must approach all our opponents with respect and humility.

"We must play the right way and with the right attitude, fighting for every ball and by the grace of God, we will put smiles on the faces of our numerous fans," he explained.

Onazi has made eight appearances and scored a solitary goal for the Super Eagles since making his international bow in 2012.
