OVERVIEW
Led by IntraHealth International, CapacityPlus is the USAID-funded global project uniquely focused on the health workforce needed to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. Placing health workers at the center of every effort, CapacityPlus helps partner countries achieve significant progress in addressing the health worker crisis while also having global impact through alliances with multilateral organizations. In Nigeria, CapacityPlus provides a package of human resources for health (HRH) technical assistance responsive to the priorities of the Government of Nigeria.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES
The HRH Program Specialist's role will be to support the CapacityPlus Nigeria Program Managers (Human Resource Management, In Service Training, Pre-Service Education, M&E) and the Human Resource Information Systems Officer to implement their respective technical areas. This includes supporting assessments, workshops, monitoring implementation plans and working with the Finance and Administration team on budgeting and travel preparation. The HRH Program Specialist will also liaise with project staff and consultants based outside of Nigeria. Working under the direct supervision of the MER Manager, the HRH Program Specialist will also assist the country team with donor reporting, liaising with in-country stakeholders and developing/monitoring the country workplan as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Support HRH managers to undertake, coordinate and monitor activities as well as the activities of stakeholders
• Assist with donor reporting and managing workplan timeline of activities
• Assist scheduling and coordinating program events, including trainings, workshops, and conference calls
• Facilitate and develop success stories from the field including writing reports and briefs as needed
• Help manage online resources including database of frequently asked questions, policy clarifications, member directory and verifier/technical assistance provider program updates
• Take minutes of internal and external technical meetings and share timely with staff
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in sciences, social sciences and any other related field with at least two years' work experience with development organizations.
• Experience working with USAID or USG programs preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
• Demonstrated knowledge of technology training practices for groups and individuals
• Proven ability to anticipate length and difficulty of task assignments, set project objectives, work on multiple tasks at once, anticipate problems and evaluate results.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and a broad variety of internet applications
• Desired willingness to learn new technologies, ability to think logically and solve problems, ability to pay attention to detail and bring tasks to completion, and ability to work collaboratively.
• Ability to travel to CapacityPlus priority states in Nigeria
