The Harambee Stars of Kenya have been promised a handsome cash reward of about eleven thousand six hundred and thirty eight US dollars by a member of the Parliament in Kenya, Senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko, if they can beat the current African champions Super Eagles of Nigeria in the return leg of the FIFA 2014 World Cup qualifier in June.
.
The players and officials of the team were treated to a heroic welcome on arrival in their country Monday following a 1-1 draw they played last Saturday in Calabar and flamboyant Senator Sonko pledged to give Harambee Stars One Million shillings for each win in their remaining three matches of the qualifiers.
.
Sonko who was at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to receive the team also called on other stakeholders, businessmen and politicians to come on board and support the growth of Kenya's soccer - especially through motivating players. The Flamboyant politician handed the team 2 Million Kenya shillings immediately they landed in Nairobi, fulfilling the pledge he made before the team departed for Nigeria last week Wednesday where he promised to give One Million for a win and one hundred thousand for each goal scorer. "Drawing against African champions at their home is like a win to us. We are proud of you and we will continue supporting you," he said.
.
He also said the other One million shillings was from president elect Uhuru Kenyatta, while he also rewarded goal scorer Francis Kahata with 100,000 shillings in cash and pledged to continue rewarding all the goals scored by Harambee Stars in their remaining group matches.
Even without the boost they can defeat Nigeria. They are up to the task with their performance in Calabar.

You are very right. The players are always determined against Nigeria. They always play well. Great!
