Ogun State Governor, Senator. Ibikunle Amosun, has described Chief (Mrs) Dehinnika Olufunso Adesegun, mother of his deputy, Prince Segun Adesegun as a disciplined individual with strong character who has spent greater part of her life in the service of God and humanity.
In his congratulatory letter delivered to the Octogenarian by a delegation of the State government led by the Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr. Shuaib Salisu at a celebration held at the Adeseguns Ogudu GRA rersidence in Lagos, Governor Amosun said the celebrant was a strong- willed and selfless personality who had touched the lives of many positively.
He said the State is benefitting from her values through the meaningful contributions of many illustrious citizens she had brought up, particularly her son, Prince Adesegun, adding that her life was a good example that the younger generation should emulate.
While extending the felicitation of the people and government of the State to Chief (Mrs.) Adesegun for attaining the age of 80, Senator Amosun prayed for more years and good health for her, so that the State would continue to benefit from her wise counsel and treasured companionship.
Also speaking, former Governors of Ogun and Ekiti States, Chief Olusegun Osoba and Otunba Niyi Adebayo saluted Mrs. Adesegun for being a courageous and virtuous woman who brought up her children in the ways of God, congratulating her for joining the league of Octogenarians.
The celebrant, Chief (Mrs.) Olufunso Adesegun, while speaking, expressed gratitude to God for sparing her life and thanked her children for heeding her advices and instructions when they were younger.
She charged parents, especially mothers to pay adequate attention to their children by bringing them up in the way of the Lord and giving them sound moral and school education.
Responding on behalf of the family, the Deputy Governor, Prince Segun Adesegun thanked the State government and other guests for the honour done to their mother, pledging that as children, they would always uphold and exhibit the virtues inculcated in them by her.
Dignitaries present at the occasion included the Lagos State Deputy Governor, Mrs. Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, former Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Senator Olorunmbe Mamora and the Lagos State Chairman of Action Congress of Nigeria, Chief Henry Ajomale.
