Earlier, in Abuja at the grand finale of PDP national reconciliation and consolidation tour undertaken by the National Working Committee of the party, Vice President Sambo urged party leaders to "Embark on peoples-oriented projects and programmes in each tier of government that will not only improve the lives of our people but will create wealth amongst our citizens."

He said, "We must shun all overtures by those who are bent on destroying the party through anti-party activities and be unified in our quest to strengthen a party that has made its mark and improve the lives and well-being of our citizens."

Emphasizing on the programmes which the PDP has embarked upon, Sambo added that the laudable programmes at all the three tiers of government coupled with the respect for rule of law, good governance and democratic tenets serve as the party's trade mark. He urged members "To carry the trade mark wherever they go as a good product sells itself".

He called on the opposition to join the PDP as it is the only party with clear conscience and manifesto aimed at transforming our dear country for good. The Vice President also commended the National Chairman of the Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, for embarking on the tour of the six geo-political zones in line with the reconciliation, reformation and rebuilding agenda of the party.

Earlier, the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, said the gathering of the crème of leaders in the party was momentous as it was the first time the National Working Committee of the Party embarked on such a tour and coupled with the celebration of the National Working committee's one year in office. He called on members to foster unity and reposition the party for greater heights ahead.

Several personalities including the Deputy National Chairman of the Party, Chairman of PDP Governors' Forum, Chief Godswill Akpabio, Governor Idris Wada of Kogi State, among others, expressed goodwill messages at the occasion.
