It is the race for the coveted golden boot at the 2013 African Youth Championships and is it a coincidence that Nigeria tussle with Ghana for the accolade?
.
Until Friday, when Nigeria's Umar Aminu scored against Mali twice to have four goals, Ghana's Ebenezer Assifuah was in the lead for the ultimate, together with an Egyptian.
.
Ebenezer Assifuah and Egypt's Mahmoud "Kahraba"Abdel-Moneim are tied on three and would hope to score two or more to win the award straight away.
.
But Assifuah himself, 19, says he wants to win the 2013 African Youth Championship on Saturday rather than individual awards. He has also won two Man-of- the-Match awards and could be gunning for the tournament's Most Valuable Player award.
.
"It is not because of the best player or goal king that is why I'm here. I'm here for the ultimate," the youngster said.
.
Egypt's U-20 promising attacking midfielder Mahmoud "Kahraba" scored Egypt's two goals against Nigeria in the semi to take him to three.
.
Nigeria then went on to beat Mali 2-1 to grab third place.
.
Egypt will now take on Ghana (who they'd previously beat 2-1) in the final of the African Youth Championships after the latter beat Mali on penalties. The final will take place on Saturday in the Ahmed Zabana Stadium in Oran.
.
The winner of the U-20 African Championship will be placed in Group E at the U-20 World Cup this summer in Turkey with Chile, England and Iraq.
