The sparks failed to fly in the goalless draw between Sharks and Dolphins at the Sharks Stadium in their NPFL derby clash on Sunday.

Both teams produced enough chances to score, but neither had any finishers capable of seizing the advantage.

Perhaps the start of the match gave the best indication of what to expect when within the opening minute, Sharks' Fortune Ominiwari miscued his shot from the edge of the box, and though it still fell kindly for Amakiri George, he did not fare any better by ballooning his effort completely wide of target.

Fred Okwara, though under pressure from Sharks defenders, joined the missing spree with some close range efforts in the 16th and 39th minute.

The only reasonable effort of the half came two minutes to the break when Ominiwari forced an acrobatic save from Sunday Rotimi.

Dolphins created the bulk of the chances in the second period, and on at least one occasion, they did not seem to take the opportunities seriously.

That was in the 73rd minute when debutant Chigozie Ihunda found himself in a good position in the box, but instead of shooting he passed to Omo Ojabu, who hesitated till Ifeanyi Esobe was able to force a corner.

In the final seconds, however, Dolphins substitute, Emem Eduok's low drive from a free kick was turned round for a corner by Ikechukwu Ezenwa, while Sharks Ezioha Okereke had a goal bound shot deflected for a corner by Festus Austin. Sharks chief coach Ere Dokubo blamed the teams below par performance on administrative issues.

"I am not satisfied with the way we played today (Sunday)," he said.

"We play better in our away games, though I would attribute their performance in this particular match on administrative lapses that need to be addressed.

"There are so many distractions. Augustine Eguavoen started the season as technical adviser and we're now with another one, yet this is just week five," Dokubo lamented.
Well they will just need to put in the ball into the net in their next clash. That has to happen to entice viewers
