Title: Two Nigerians Are Africa's Fastest Runners

Team Nigeria's duo of Oduduru Divine and Adewale Adewunmi Deborah yesterday at the Warri Township stadium emerged the fastest boy and girl at the on-going 1st African Youth Championships in Athletics, reports Dare Esan.

Oduduru lived up to pre race hype as the athlete to beat by racing home first to take home the gold in 10.62 seconds while compatriot,Yusuf Ismaila Adedeji picked the bronze in 10.87,one hundreth of a second behind Ethiopia's Aoibena Abebe who won the silver medal.

It was however a Nigerian 1 and 2 in the girls version with Adewale running 11.87 seconds to win the gold ahead of compatriot,Cecilia Francis who ran 11.98 to win the silver. Togo's Pesse Prenom ran 12.25 seconds for bronze.

It was sadness and joy for Team Nigertia in the boys and girls 400m. While the girls made it a Nigerian 1 and 2 through the duo of Odiong Edidiong Ofonime (54.46 for gold) and Junaid Abimbola (54.81 for silver) with Galefele Moroko of Botswana settling for the bronze (55.52),the boys could only boast of a bronze nedal through Nathaniel Oghenewegba.

In the 100m hurdles girls final,Egypt's Lina Omar Gaber won the gold in 14.04 seconds while Nigerian duo of Oshinbanjo Temidayo (14.73) and Ademosu Adedolapo (14.75) picked the silver and bronze respectively.

Meawhile Egypt is still on top of the medals table with five gold and three silver medals while Nigeria moved to second with four gold,four silver and six bronze medals. Kenya is third with three gold and one silver and Ethiopia fourt with a gold,five silver and two bronze medals.

Oduduru Divine is a future talent of Nigeria. If he trains harder i believe he would become a very great athlete
