Title: Arsene Wenger Splashes £70m For Lewandowski, Gotze
Post by: Folami David on Apr 01, 2013, 08:13 AM
Arsene Wenger is finally prepared to splash the cash in his bid to break Arsenal's trophy drought, with a £70million raid of the Bundesliga. The Frenchman is eyeing summer moves for star Borussia Dortmund pair Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski, along with Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Lars Bender.
.
Wenger will have competition for the 24-year-old Lewandowski. The prolific Pole is being monitored by Dortmund's league rivals Bayern Munich and Premier League leaders Manchester United. But Wenger is eager to land the £25million-rated man to bolster his attacking options.
.
Gotze, 20, is a sensation in Germany. The stocky playmaker is already an established member of the Dortmund set-up and has made his mark on Joachim Lowe's Germany squad. The pair – alongside Marco Reus – provide Dortmund with a devastating threat on the break, and were instrumental in the sinking of Manchester City in the Champions League earlier this season.
.
Both played in Dortmund's 2-1 victory over Stuttgart, with Bundesliga's leading scorer Lewandowski scoring the winner late in the day.
.
Gotze's international team-mate Bender turns 24 next month and has dazzled in midfield for Leverkusen so far, earning him 12 caps for his country.
.
With Abou Diaby injured once again and Wenger ready to wield the axe on some of his under- performing stars, the Gunners are desperate for new recruits in north London.
.
Wenger's scouts have been trawling the Bundesliga for some new blood and Wenger is preparing to bring in some talent to help Arsenal win their first trophy since lifting the FA Cup in 2005.

The man is just scared of receiving his sack letter anytime from now, that's the reason for his actions.
