Title: Richtersveld Namibia roads closed
Post by: iolsa on Apr 02, 2013, 08:31 PM
Alexander Bay - Namibian roads leading to the Richtersveld Transfrontier Park were closed because of heavy rain on Tuesday, SA National Parks (SANParks) said.

This was a precautionary measure, spokeswoman Gabrielle Venter said.

"Guests arriving in the next few days have been informed and advised accordingly to exercise caution and use alternative roads,"  she said in a statement.

"Visitors will receive updates as and when our Namibian counterparts furnish us with information on the roads situation."

The Oranjemund, Rosh Pinah, Ai-Ais and Noordoewer roads were closed on Tuesday afternoon. Motorists were warned that travelling on a closed road was punishable by fine. Motorists should drive cautiously in heavy rains and not attempt to cross submerged roads or flooded causeways and bridges, Venter said. - Sapa
